We are looking for a Histology Technician to help serve the medical community in our pathology laboratory. Histology Techs prepare tissue for diagnosis and participate in general functions necessary to insure daily operation of the histology department. To perform the job succecssfully, you should demonstrate competency in problem solving, customer service, and cooperation with the team. Applicants are expected to assist the practice in delivering the highest level of operation and clinical standards. Technicians must demonstrate the ability to exercise initiative, establish priorities, and coordinate work activities. This is a great opportunity for professionals with excellent customer service and computer skills.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

•   Maintaining absolute confidentiality regarding specimens and findings

•   Understanding processing principles and programming processors

•   Embedding processed tissue according to procedure guidelines (minimum of 60 blocks per hour)

•   Sectioning tissue cassettes according to procedure guidelines

•   Recognizing proper H&E staining and troubleshooting common problems

•   Accurately and fully completing department work logs

•   Maintaining all equipment according to department procedures and manufacturers recommendations

•   Using supplies appropriately and notifying manager of low supply or expiration in a timely manner

•   Filing paraffin blocks correctly and efficiently

Minimum of one year experience preferred

ASCP registration is preferred
